I currently work in Midvale, Utah. You'll be sent the exact address of my studio during the scheduling process.
If you're looking to start a new project, you'll want to fill out my Project Request Form first. If your project is approved, you’ll receive additional booking info via email and a link to book on my calendar. Appointments are first come, first serve and only confirmed once your deposit is submitted.
If you already have a project started with me, please email booking@ashandalter.com to schedule.
I'm most passionate about projects that include organic themes like flora and fauna, skulls, flowers, insects, and natural forms. I’m especially drawn to pieces that incorporate blackout or heavier contrast and negative space.
If your idea fits within this world, it’s likely a great match. If you’re unsure, you’re always welcome to submit your idea! Alignment matters more than checking specific boxes.
I do offer coverups, but it depends on the existing tattoo. For cover-up requests, please include a clear photo of the current tattoo so I can assess factors like age, darkness, size, and placement. From there, I can determine what options make the most sense for your piece.
If your request get declined, it’s not personal. Every tattooer has specific strengths, interests, and limitations, and I’m not always the right fit for every idea or style. I only accept projects I know I can execute well and feel fully aligned with.
I also work with a limited number of booking slots, especially while balancing travel, my health, drawing time for custom pieces, and focusing on projects that reflect where I’m at creatively. If I’m not able to take on your project, I’m always happy to suggest other artists who might be a great fit.
That’s a very common concern. I’ve seen people hold onto ideas for years or live with unfinished work because starting a large-scale piece can feel overwhelming. Consistency matters with this kind of work, both for how the tattoo heals and how the final piece comes together.
To better support clients moving through longer projects, I offer an optional project credit system for ongoing work. It’s designed to make large pieces feel easier to begin and more manageable to stay committed to over time. Credits are added after completed sessions and applied toward future appointments within the same project. Enrollment is optional, and credits can’t be applied retroactively. You can learn more here.
That’s a common question, and it’s hard to give a single answer because every project is different. Things like scale, detail, placement, and how the piece evolves all play a role. For that reason, I work in half-day and full-day sessions instead of pricing large projects as a flat rate.
I currently book half-day and full-day sessions only.
Half Day (3 hours): $800
Full Day (6 hours): $1400
A $200 non-refundable deposit is required for each appointment. The deposit is applied to that session’s total cost. Your appointment is not confirmed until the deposit is received.
Appointments usually begin at 1:00 PM. Half-day sessions end around 4:00 PM. Full-day sessions end around 7:00 PM. Please arrive on time to allow for stencil prep and hand-drawing.
No, designs are not sent ahead of time. You’ll see the final design at your appointment. I work best with creative freedom, please book only if you’re comfortable with that.
Absolutely. You’re allowed up to one hour of adjustment time during your first session. If changes take longer than one hour, your tattoo time may be shortened or the session will be rescheduled with a $200 redraw fee.
